Employment scams: they’re everywhere! Nowadays, with the economy struggling and more and more people looking for a fast answer to unemployment, the employment scam market has never been stronger. Here are some tips for protecting yourself from false hope, wasted time and most of all, outright theft of your money!

Don’t pay to get a job interview

Look for start-up fees of any kind, including the purchasing of ”necessary” materials or software. While there are a few exceptions, 99.9% of the time, a fee indicates a scam. Work is something you do to get paid, not something you pay to do. Never send money for a work opportunity unless everything else about the company is squeaky clean and you can find a good review of it and good record with the Better Business Bureau.

Less work and more pay

Consider any claims of overinflated pay to be dubious. Similarly, promises for super easy work, very flexible scheduling, and other too-good-to-be-true promises should seem suspicious when grouped together. Doubt any ad that tells you more about how much money you’ll make and how great the work will be than it says about the work itself. Real employers want to entice only the best applicants for the job, whereas scammers want to entice anyone who can send them money.

Anonymous Employer

Look for anonymity. Scamming is illegal, so people who do it don’t want to get caught. If names, faces, and addresses (other than a P.O. Box number) are kept well-hidden, this is a good sign that something sneaky is likely going on.

Assess the Employer’s Website

Assess the website, if there is one. Is it clearly part of the website for a larger company (with links back to a ”home” index which will tell you what the site is about), or does it have nothing on it except information about the one particular offer you’re considering? Scammers will tend to throw up a quick, easy web page that does only what it needs to: tricking you into giving them your money!

Common Email addresses

Be wary of e-mail addresses from yahoo.com, gmail.com, hotmail.com, aol.com, or other popular free e-mail clients. While there is nothing wrong with these services (and nothing necessarily suspicious about an individual person who uses them), anyone who claims to be a contact for a legitimate, large company should probably have an e-mail address from that company’s website. Heck, their company should HAVE a website!

Cautious about giving your work samples

Be cautious about giving employers samples of your work. Not all scams are based in getting your money: some of them want free work. It’s legit for a company who wants to hire writers, for example, to want to see samples, but if a company is asking for a lot of samples, samples written-to-order, and if they make it clear that anything you write during the ”hiring process” will legally belong to them, don’t buy it!

Health is Wealth proverb describes the important aspect of life. In today’s world where cure is expensive and people are more and more focused on living a healthy life. This articles is for those who really care about their health and focused on stress.

Stress is a term in psychology and biology, first coined in the biological context in the 1930s. It refers to the consequence of the failure of an organism – human or animal – to respond appropriately to emotional or physical threats, whether actual or imagined. Signs of stress may be cognitive, emotional, physical or behavioral. Signs include poor judgment, a general negative outlook, excessive worrying, moodiness, irritability, agitation, inability to relax, feeling lonely, isolated or depressed, aches and pains, diarrhea or constipation, nausea, dizziness, chest pain, rapid heartbeat, eating too much or not enough, sleeping too much or not enough, social withdrawal, procrastination or neglect of responsibilities, increased alcohol, nicotine or drug consumption, and nervous habits such as pacing about or nail-biting. It covers a wide range of phenomena, from mild irritation to drastic dysfunction that may cause severe health breakdown.

Following are some points that will help you reduce stress and make you healthy.

Sleep Well
The average adult needs eight hours of sleep. So get some shut-eye. If you have trouble sleeping, try meditation, deep breathing, herbal teas, etc.

Eat Healthy
A low stress diet is very beneficial, this means low in sugar, starches and fat. Eat six small meals a day and maintain a balanced diet.

Have a Sense of Humor
Laughter really is the best medicine. Try reading comics in the news paper or find something to “lighten” your mood each day.

Love Yourself
Work on your self-image and self-esteem issues. Don’t compare yourself to others.

Keep Your Cool
Self- control and patience are keys to living a stress-reduced life. You can not control what people do or say to you, just how you react to the situation.

Stay Active
Exercise not only keeps your body looking good, it also gives the feeling of freshness. Join a fitness program or start brisk walking.

Have Loving, Supportive and Positive Relationships
Surround yourself with people who share your interests and are encouraging. Toxic friendships and relationships are energy drainers.

Be Honest
Lying means always trying to keep up and remember the lie. This can become a major cause of stress.

Think Positive
Our negative thoughts and fears consume our lives if we let them. Living with past regrets, guilt or resentment is detrimental to our health. Try to change the way you think, it’s difficult, but not impossible.

At a fund raising dinner for a school that serves children with learning disabilities, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question:

‘When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does, is done with perfection. Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do. Where is the natural order of things in my son?’

The audience was stilled by the query.

The father continued. ‘I believe that when a child like Shay, who was mentally and physically disabled comes into the world, an opportunity to realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes in the way other people treat that child.’

Then he told the following story:

Shay and I had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball. Shay asked, ‘Do you think they’ll let me play?’ I knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team, but as a father I also understood that if my son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others in spite of his handicaps.

I approached one of the boys on the field and asked (not expecting much) if Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance and said, ‘We’re losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we’ll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning.’

Shay struggled over to the team’s bench and, with a broad smile, put on a team shirt. I watched with a small tear in my eye and warmth in my heart. The boys saw my joy at my son being accepted.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay’s team scored a few runs but was still behind by three.

In the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the right field. Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as I waved to him from the stands.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay’s team scored again. Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was on base and Shay was scheduled to be next at bat. At this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance to win the game?

Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible because Shay didn’t even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball.

However, as Shay stepped up to the plate, the pitcher, recognizing that the other team was putting winning aside for this moment in Shay’s life, moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least make contact.

The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed. The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay. As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right back to the pitcher. The game would now be over. The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman. Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game. Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the first baseman’s head, out of reach of all team mates.

Everyone from the stands and both teams started yelling, ‘Shay, run to first! Run to first!’

Never in his life had Shay ever run that far, but he made it to first base.

He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled.

Everyone yelled, ‘Run to second, run to second!’

Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and struggling to make it to the base. By the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right fielder had the ball, the smallest guy on their team who now had his first chance to be the hero for his team. He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he understood the pitcher’s intentions so he, too, intentionally threw the ball high and far over the third-baseman’ s head.

Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead of him circled the bases toward home.

All were screaming, ‘Shay, Shay, Shay, all the Way Shay’

Shay reached third base because the opposing shortstop ran to help him by turning him in the direction of third base, and shouted, ‘Run to third! Shay, run to third!’

As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams, and the spectators, were on their feet screaming, ‘Shay, run home! Run home!’

Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero who hit the grand slam and won the game for his team

‘That day’, said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, ‘the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and humanity into this world’.

Shay didn’t make it to another summer. He died that winter, having never forgotten being the hero and making me so happy, and coming home and seeing his Mother tearfully embrace her little hero of the day!

Ackee is a fruit, originally native to tropical Western Africa in Cameroon, Gabon, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Guinea, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, and Togo. The fruit was imported to Jamaica from West Africa in 1778. Since then it has become a feature of various Caribbean cuisines. Ackee is the national fruit of Jamaica, and Ackee and Saltfish is the national dish.

It is related to the lychee and the longan, and is an evergreen tree that grows about 10 metres tall, with a short trunk and a dense crown. The leaves are pinnate, leathery, compound, 15–30 centimetres long, with 6–10 elliptical obovate-oblong leaflets. Each leaflet is 8–12 centimetres long and 5–8 centimetres broad.

The fruit of the Ackee is not edible in its entirety. Only the inner, fleshy yellow arils are consumed. The shiny black seeds at the tips of the arils, and the bright red pod enclosing 3 or 4 arils are discarded. If improperly eaten, it can cause Jamaican Vomiting Sickness – which can lead to coma or death. Unripe Ackee fruit contains a poison called hypoglycin, so preparers must be careful to wait until the fruit’s protective pods turn red and open naturally.

The Hypoglycin toxins in unripe Ackee fruits limit the body’s ability to release the backup supply of glucose that is stored in the liver. That supply is essential because once the body uses up the sugar immediately available in the bloodstream than it depends on this glucose to keep blood sugar levels normal until the next meal.

The inedible part of Ackee and leaves are used medicinally. It is also used to produce soap in some parts of Africa. It is also used as a fish poison.

I was going through my emails and found an email with an interesting subject. The email gave insight to the health life of a person who worked in a software company namely Blore Software city. I am sharing this little peace of anecdote which is a must read for all people with office job not just IT people.

On 27 th October afternoon I had severe heart attack symptom and I was rushed to the hospital.

After reaching to the hospital the doctors prescribed a test called angiogram. This test is basically to identify blood flow of heart arteries. When they finished the test they found a 94% block in the main artery, please see the image below with red circle .

At this point I wanted to share my living style which has caused this block in my heart arteries. Please see the below points of my life style, if any of these points are part of your life style then you are at risk, please change yourselves.

1. I was not doing any physical exercise for more than 10 years, not even walking 30 minutes a day for years.
2. My food timings are 11:00 AM Breakfast or no Breakfast, 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM Lunch and dinner at 11:00 PM to 12:00 AM.
3. Sleeping in very odd timings, going to bed between 12:00 AM and 3:00 AM . Waking up at between 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM .. Some times spending sleepless nights.
4. I used to eat heavily because of long gaps between lunch and dinner and I used to make sure that Non-Veg is available most of the time, there were times when I did survey on city hotels to find delicious Non-Veg dishes. I was never interested in vegetable and healthier food.
5. Above all I was chain smoker form years.
6. My father passed away due to heart problems, and the doctors say the heart problems are usually genetic.

Once they identified the major block they have done immediately a procedure called angioplasty along with 2 Stents, mean they will insert a foreign body into the heart arteries and open the blocked area of arteries. Please see the below image after the procedure.

I learnt form the doctors that 60% people will die before reaching the hospital, 20% people will die in the process of recovering from heart attack and only 20% will survive. In my case I was very lucky to be part of the last 20%.

Doctors instructions:

Locating a place correctly with the least hassle has always been researched. From North Star and constellations to compass and maps man has tried to invent better ways to locate the desired place. In this information technology era we have a new way to locate the places using our computers right on our tables. Everyone who has access to internet is aware of Google Earth and Microsoft Virtual Earth and must have tried to locate his/her home city, town using that technology. It is fun to locate the houses of friends and family living somewhere around the globe. These “navigational services” are the modern day compass and map.

The key to these technologies is NASA satellite pictures. The satellites that rotate around the globe continusally capture images of the earth. The images are combined to form single complete image which includes every city, town, country. From dry land to oceans from lakes to mountains the single image formed contains almost everything. This image is made accessible through some website and any part of it can be viewed. The image is so much fine grained that even the hoardings on streets can be read. But such fineness is only available if zooming in is performed. These technologies completely replace the printed maps for the purpose of locating an area as the map of any city, town and country can be viewed through it as it is viewable by satellite. This seems very useful if you are trying to find an address. you can locate an address without even leaving your computer table, getting yourself familiarized with the area and avoid the trouble involved in locating street after street in car, cab or by walking thus saving a lot of time and avoid frustration.

All this sounds fun and very useful but if the technology falls into wrong hands it can be extremely dangerous. This is the reason put forward by the critics who think that such technology can very much assist terrorists in planning and preparing for their activities. Since it is possible to see the street images, buildings, landmarks; a mischievous person could use this information for something bad. For instance it may help bank robbers locate the precise exit routes after the robbery, a gang to plan their attack on some building and such. In addition to that it also violates the privacy of a citizen. Being able to locate and view his house through internet, the privacy is severely compromised as it is no longer hidden from the rest of the world which has some good, some bad and some ugly people. Since the information is available for everyone without distinction how one can make sure that the service would not be used by any culprit for his own evil purpose?

Due to these reasons several countries have taken steps. China is planning to ban the Google Earth, Iran has already banned it. Indian Court has requested to ban GE in future, US military has already banned. Here is an extract form a UK Newspaper website about banning the technology in India:

Google Earth should be banned amid suspicions that the online satellite imaging tool was used in planning the attacks that killed more than 170 people in Mumbai last month, an Indian court heard. The demand from Amit Karkhanis, an Indian lawyer, came as a new school of “tech-savvy jihadis” make use of data freely available online and other web-based services to plot and execute their strikes, a phenomenon dubbed “the Google threat” by military commanders. The case filed at the Mumbai High Court alleges that Google Earth and similar services, “aid terrorists in plotting attacks” by supplying detailed bird’s-eye images that are used to acquaint militants with their targets.

December 10, 2008, Times online UK

Some critics have gone to such extent as proposing a similar but local service as alternate to those international services which not only follows the country laws but would also protects the important places to certain extent. Any solution as proposed would not be without problems. If the system is for the people then we have the very first problem. How would it be made sure that no terrorist or person with mal thinking accesses the system? Development of such a system requires huge amount of resources. If the system is not for public then is it really feasible to devise such a system for privileged ones? The maps of the city are also usually available in the book stores. These maps can also be used for planning such attacks. Would some suggest not having the printed maps available anywhere in the city? Planning for any such attacks is not possible without the help of insiders. Steps should be taken for avoiding the classified information leak rather than banning a useful service for public.

Thinking that something can be put to wrong use and banning it is an absurd and foolish thinking. Instead of banning such a useful service it is much better that security of important locations should be increased and instead of relying on traditional methods of securing a place newer methods should be adopted. Suicide bombing is becoming very common in the south East Asian region. Better technology should be used to identify the suicide bombers in the masses of the people. Police should be given special training to deal with any such situation. Many incidents of terrorism have occurred in the region and we have witnessed the haphazardness of the police along with the chaos in the administration. Special programs should be organized for police and administration so that coordinate in the best possible way to save the lives of the people.

Just because some technology can be used for a bad purpose is not a sound enough reason for banning it. Instead the security should be improved and newer technology should be put to use. Just as the technology keeps on evolving so do the terrorists and their methods. The governments should make good investment to ensure that their administration is well versed with the new technology and is fully capable of dealing with any such situation.

But after decades of cry their grand children repeating the history, the only difference now is actors have switched roles.
Its pretty hard to describe every thing in words but pictures say thousand words:

GEO has been most prominent news channel in Pakistan but what they are doing? It was very embarrassing to know that they are plagiarizing. It look likes their sole purpose is to put content on the website and earn big bucks through advertisements. And this incident is not alone Pro-Pakistan has also highlighted this issue on their blog, Geo Exposed by Pro-Pakistan: Case of Copy Pasting, Plagiarism and Coypright Ingfringement. They have also suggested new slogan for them: Copy Kar kay GEO, isn’t it a wonderful suggestion?

Many people don’t know what exactly plagiarism is, so here is a little discussion:

Dictionaries define:

to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one’s own

use (another’s production) without crediting the source

to commit literary theft

present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source

Also read article on Wikipedia about plagiarism and learn more through Google. Plagiarism is very serious offense, universities in Pakistan and Higher Education Commission (HEC) has taken steps to force students not to plagiarize the academic assignments and research papers. If influential organizations like GEO TV don’t shun the plagiarism it will not help universities or HEC to stop the plagiarism.

The purpose of this article is to identify the issue and spread awareness among students and organization that plagiarism is an ethical and legal offense. It will cost you one way or other in the future, specially to students.
